It’s how they came to be known. The port of entry for TRT and peptides was through bodybuilding. Which is known for extremes and people dying. The port of entry for SSRIs was “standard” psychiatry. It’s been harder to trace specific tragedies to individual Rx drugs. (because the people that take them generally have issues that lead them to take them so…) I hosted an expert guest recently, who explained that the increased serotonin from SSRIs can be taken up by dopamine synapses and can reduce the rewarding properties of dopamine. Which explains a lot. Obviously those drugs can be of use to certain people as well. But that’s the reason. It’s all about the origin story.
